I'd be honest, I'd still not sure the distinction between Jazz, Swing, and blues

Swing is a form of jazz, blues is a specific form in general. You can play blues in its own genre that would just be blues (usually with just a guitar or somethin, but you could also play blues in another style, like in the style of Rock & Roll, Country or Jazz.

Swing:

Regarding Jazz, I think it makes most sense to consider jazz to be the American continuation of classical music. (Considering how a lot of the jazz standards were written by European émigrées to America) People often joke about others not liking jazz because it’s formless and they don’t understand it, but the formless jazz is really only seen in the later Post-Modern instantiations of it beginning in maybe the 60’s. The beginnings of jazz, and perhaps the purest forms of jazz, have immense amounts of melodic, harmonic and rhythmic structure.

And if it’s not clear, blues usually deals with heartbreak and generally sad themes, that’s why they call it the blues
